Frizell receives Conference USA Winter Sports Spirit of Service Award

DALLAS — UTSA junior Elijah Frizell has received the Conference USA Winter Sports Spirit of Service Award, honoring his significant community service endeavors, good academic standing and participation in sport.

Frizell is one of 11 C-USA student-athletes from the winter sports of indoor track & field and basketball. Recipients are nominated by the institutions.

A native of Dallas, Frizell has been heavily involved in community service efforts since his arrival on campus. He has donated his time to help with the UTSA Day of Service Campus Beautification Project, CANtoberfest, Roadrunners Give Back, UTSA Food Pantry, San Antonio's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day March and local park clean-ups. A C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll selection, he also has been a member of the Roadrunner Excellence and Leadership Institute, UTSA Men of Honor and the Black Student Union.

On the track, Frizell is in his third year with the Roadrunners. This indoor season, he competed in three events at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitational in January, clocking a 22.79 to place 15th in the 200 meters and a 52.07 in the 400m.
