ATLANTA — The UTSA softball team dropped a 3-1 decision at Georgia State on Monday afternoon at the Bob Heck Complex.
The Roadrunners fell to 7-19 overall despite a solo home run from Camryn Robillard and a complete game from freshman pitcher Iliana Saucedo, who fanned five batters and scattered four hits in six innings of work.
UTSA also saw three players record a hit, as Aubrie Henderson had a double, while Kylie Forney and Taryn Madlock and each had a single.
The Panthers (8-18) received a complete game in the circle from Sydney Boulware, who struck out nine and only allowed one earned run in seven frames.
Robillard got the Roadrunners on the board first with her solo shot to left field in the top of the second.
However, Georgia State responded in the bottom of the third with a three-spot. Chloe Nadler’s base hit to right center brought home McKenzie Walker, who walked to start the inning. Carolyn Deady then lifted a sacrifice fly to center field, which eventually led to a pair of errors that allowed the third run of the afternoon to cross home.
UTSA threatened to knot the score in the sixth after Henderson doubled down the right field line and moved to third on a sac bunt by Madlock, who later swiped second base with two outs. Boulware got out of the jam with a fly out to right field.
The Roadrunners will wrap up their five-game road swing with a visit to Marietta, Georgia, to face Kennesaw State at noon CT on Tuesday.
