The UTSA men will have a busy day to break open National Championships action on Wednesday, June 5. Kicking things off for the Roadrunners will be the men’s 4x100-meter relay squad of freshman Martín Kouyoumdjian (Santiago, Chile), freshman Nabil Tezkratt (East London, England), junior Brice Chabot (Smithville, Texas) and junior Gabriel Binion (Sydney, Australia). The second event of the day, relays will start at 4:32 p.m. PT (6:32 p.m. Central), the Roadrunners are in the third heat and the top two finishes from each heat plus the next three best times advance to Friday’s final. UTSA enters the meet with a top combined time of 38.89 seconds in the relay.

The only Roadrunner to qualify for Nationals in three events, Tezkratt will be back in action with the 400-meter preliminary, set to start at 6:00 p.m. PT (8:00 p.m. Central). Tezkratt is scheduled in the second heat and comes in with his career-best 45.85 mark from the NCAA West Regional in Arkansas. Getting started at the same time on short rest, Binion will take the third position in the first long jump flight off his outdoor-best 7.76m (25-5.5) from the Texas Invitational.

Tezkratt will join with Kouyoumdjian, junior Noah Rhodes (Kerrville, Texas) and junior Mike Roth (St. Thomas, Ontario) to form the UTSA 4x400-meter relay, set to compete at 7:48 p.m. PT (9:48 p.m. Central). Winners of the 96th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, the Roadrunners come in with a school-record 3:03.72 from the NCAA West Regional and are in the first heat of the day’s final event. The same advancement protocol applies to the 4x400m.

Moving to Thursday’s women’s opener, Fredrikstad, Norway freshman Ida Breigan is looking for her second long jump national honor after finishing sixth at the NCAA Indoor Championships for First Team All-American status. In the outdoor campaign, she climbed as high as No. 1 nationally, finishing second at the American Athletic Conference Championships and finished fourth at the NCAA West Regional on a 6.72m (22-0.75) first-jump measurement. The women’s long jump is set for 7:00 p.m. PT (9:00 p.m. Central) and Breigan’s 6.74m (22-1.5) school-record leap from the Beach Invitational places her in the second position of the second flight.

On Friday’s schedule for the Roadrunners, Bridgetown, Barbados junior Jemuel Miller comes into the men’s triple jump with a school-record 16.21m (53-2.25) mark and is making his second NCAA appearance in three years. Miller earned second place at The American Championships on a 16.08m (52-9.25) jump and then was 12th in the NCAA West field in Arkansas. Miller earned All-America honors in the indoor and outdoor triple jump during his debut 2022 campaign, going First Team All-America with a fifth-place indoor finish and adding a second-team nod for his 10th-place finish outdoors. The triple jump is slated for 6:20 p.m. PT (8:20 p.m. Central) on Friday and Miller is scheduled as the 12th and final jumper in the first flight.

Friday could also bring final appearances for UTSA in running events, with the men’s 4x100m final set for 6:02 p.m. PT (8:02 p.m. Central), 400m final at 7:02 p.m. PT (9:02 p.m. Central) and 4x400m final scheduled for 8:21 p.m. PT (10:21 p.m. Central).
