SAN ANTONIO — Walker Franklin posted a 1-under-par scorecard to highlight Sunday action for the UTSA men’s golf team at the Valero Texas Collegiate at TPC San Antonio Oaks (par 72/7,100 yards).

Franklin turned in a 71 to help the Roadrunners record a 299 on the second day of the 54-hole tournament that features some of the top collegiate teams in the nation. UTSA is in 14th place with a 595, 14 strokes ahead of North Florida and seven shots behind East Tennessee State, one of 10 squads in the top 30 of Golfweek’s preseason rankings.

Franklin was steady in his second round, writing down 15 pars and a pair of birdies for UTSA’s best round of the weekend. Starting on No. 10, the senior from Colorado followed a par with a birdie on the 381-yard, par-4 11th before reeling off seven straight pars en route to a 35 on that side. He added his second birdie on the 555-yard, par-5 second hole to get to 2-under for the day before settling for a bogey on the fourth.

With 18 holes remaining, Franklin is part of a tie for 50th place at 3-over 147 that also includes UTSA sophomore Kaelen Dulany. After opening with an even-par 72 on Saturday, Dulany carded a 75 that featured a trio of birdies, including back-to-back on Nos. 17-18.

Logan Vargas shot a 76 on Sunday behind a pair of birdies and the junior transfer is tied for 69th at 6-over 150 following his opening-round 74.

Jack Wehman and David Martinez round out the UTSA lineup in 75th (74-78—152) and 78th (76-77—153), respectively. Playing as an individual, Logan Zurn is tied for 89th (76-84 —160).

Ole Miss (-23) took over the team lead by one shot ahead of Oklahoma (-22), while Virginia (-12), defending NCAA champion Auburn (-11) and TCU (-9) round out the top five.
