Students are admitted free by showing their UTSA ID for both sports.
UTSA men’s basketball is tipping off a new era with the inaugural season under head coach Austin Claunch. Announced as the program’s seventh head coach in March, Claunch arrived in San Antonio after finishing Alabama’s historic run to the Final Four as member of the Crimson Tide staff. He brings a successful track record that led him to back-to-back Southland Conference Championships, an SLC Coach of the Year honor and 90 wins in five years at Nicholls State. It’s also a new look for the Roadrunners’ roster, as Claunch and his staff hit the ground running and assembled an exceptionally talented squad from across the country, with 14 new scholarship players making their UTSA debut in November.
Head UTSA women’s basketball coach Karen Aston will enter her fourth season at UTSA, following an incredibly successful 2023-24 campaign that saw the team go 18-15, collecting the program's most wins and the first national postseason berth since the 2008-09 campaign. The 'Runners picked up their inaugural postseason victory via an 80-62 routing of Northern Colorado in the Opening Round of the WNIT. UTSA finished fourth in their first season as a member of the American Athletic Conference, logging the best league campaign since the 2016-17 season, where they went 10-8. The 'Runners also went 8-7 to start the season, marking the first winning nonconference slate since 2013-14.
