SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA women's basketball program is officially set to make their 2024-25 debut on Thursday, as they take on Southeastern Conference foe Texas A&M in College Station at 11 a.m. inside Reed Arena.
The game will be broadcast live on SEC Network + with Will Johnson (play-by-play) and Tap Bentz (analyst) on the call. Neal Raphael will deliver all the action on the radio in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.
The Roadrunners are back in action after a campaign that featured the squad's inaugural postseason victory, which came via an 80-62 routing of Northern Colorado in the First Round of the 2024 WNIT. UTSA posted an 18-15 record, including a 10-8 conference record that slotted them fourth in The American standings and delivered a double-bye in the league's championship tournament.
UTSA will take on the Aggies after besting St. Mary's 90-38 in an exhibition bout last week. A&M went 19-13 with a 6-10 record in the SEC, earning them an at-large berth and a No. 11 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Aggies suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of No. 6 seed Nebraska and will return key squad members Aicha Coulibaly and Lauren Ware.
Coulibaly was a two-time second-team All-SEC selection and made a Preseason All-Conference squad, while Ware was named on the Lisa Leslie Award watchlist.
The Aggies began their season on Monday, falling 62-56 at the hands of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, who also made the NCAA Tournament a year ago. Across that contest, Jada Malone paced the team with 11 points and nine rebounds, with Janae Kent not far behind, scoring 10 with seven boards.
