SAN ANTONIO – On Wednesday, the UTSA women’s basketball program will look to secure their 10th consecutive win as they host Tulsa for Greek Night, presented by Wendy’s at 6:30 p.m. As a part of the festivities, students can receive free pizza upon entry while supplies last.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Karl Schoening (play-by-play), Carlie Heineman (analyst) and Taylor Guajardo (reporter) on the call. Neal Raphael will deliver all the action on the radio in the greater San Antonio area on The Bull 93.3 FM and worldwide on the iHeartRadio app.
The Roadrunners (16-2, 7-0 The American) and Golden Hurricane (9-9, 3-3 The American) met previously on Jan. 4 in Tulsa, with UTSA picking up a 60-53 victory behind 30 points and seven rebounds for redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins.
The ‘Runners secured a 70-68 come-from-behind win against Memphis and a 73-63 routing of UAB last week, extending their best-ever start in The American to seven games. Jenkins collected her third consecutive and fifth American Athletic Conference Player of the Week of the season after averaging 19.0 PPG and 9.5 RPG in the victories.
UTSA owns the ninth-best rebound margin in the country at plus-10.8, and 15.2 offensive rebounds per game are 19th in the NCAA. The Roadrunners scoring defense of 55.9 is 25th, and a 36.9% field goal defense ranks 35th. Additionally, the squad swats 4.3 shots per game, which ranks 39th.
Individually, Jenkins is 23rd nationally with 19.6 PPG and 353 total points, 26th. She’s 30th with 82 free throws made, and she converts 84.5% of her attempts from the charity stripe to lead the league. Also topping the AAC, graduate student Nina De Leon Negron averages 5.1 assists per game, and junior Sidney Love is not far behind at 4.1.
Tulsa, meanwhile, secured a 79-64 win against Florida Atlantic last week, bringing their record back to .500. Delanie Crawford continues to be dominant for the Golden Hurricane, sitting just behind Jenkins on the league leader board with 17.7 PPG. She’s not afraid to shoot the three with 148 attempts from beyond the arc, ranking seventh in the NCAA, and 48 makes are 27th.
Elise Hill joins Crawford in averaging double-digit points at 11.0 PPG, and Hadley Periman paces the team in rebounds with 8.3 RPG. Periman also boasts a squad-high 1.7 blocks per game.
