SAN ANTONIO—The UTSA softball team will visit Charlotte for a three-game American Athletic Conference series spanning Thursday through Saturday at Daughtridge Stadium.
The Roadrunners (17-26, 3-15 The American) carry momentum after taking down a Texas State squad that’s receiving votes nationally, 6-0, last time out. Freshman Ava Eldridge and sophomore Taryn Madlock starred for the squad, with Eldridge going the distance and scattering four hits, while Madlock had a pair of outfield assists and blasted a three-run home run.
Sophomore Kalee Rochinski has been sensational behind the plate, with 15 runners caught stealing, slotting her seventh nationally. She also enters the weekend third on the NCAA leader board after being hit by 15 pitches.
The 49ers (23-23, 11-7 The American) have been red-hot in conference play, winning their last seven with only midweek losses to North Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Duke since Mar. 28.
Jenna Lord has been one of the top power hitters in the country, with 18 home runs leading the AAC and ranking sixth nationally. Not far behind, Teagan Ritchie is second in the American and 22nd in the NCAA with 15 on the season. Lord’s 51 RBIs are 25th collegiately, and a .886 slugging percentage is 22nd. Additionally, she is fourth with 124 total bases.
In the circle, Charlotte maintains a 5.41 ERA, led by Brooke Bowling, who has gone 12-8 with a 1.74 WHIP. Aubrey Yarnall has eight wins on the year, with Avery Shamblin recording two victories and Abby Gawlinski one.
