IRVING, Texas – Senior transfers Hugo Menin and Rachela Pace have both been recognized for their performances this past week, as officials from the American Athletic Conference have named Menin the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week and Pace the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. This marks the third and fourth weekly awards for the Roadrunners this outdoor season.
The second weekly award for the first-year transfer from Tarleton State this outdoor season, Menin (Cysoing, France) ran the seventh-fastest 400m hurdles time in the nation over the weekend at the 65th Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California. His 49.77 earned him overall silver and he was the top collegiate performer in the meet. He now leads the American Athletic Conference in the event and registered the second-fastest time in UTSA history.
A first-year transfer from Fresno State, Pace (Dingli, Malta) registered a season-best measurement in the triple jump with a leap of 13.05m (42-9.75), also at the Mt. SAC Relays in Hilmer Lodge Stadium. This mark moves her to 24th nationally, while also taking over the top spot in The American. She also now holds the No. 2 outdoor triple jump mark in UTSA history.
For Menin, this is his second AAC outdoor honor on the year. For Pace, this is her first AAC outdoor honor. This pair of accolades make it six overall UTSA outdoor AAC honors and the 11th for either indoor/outdoor season for UTSA since the program joined The American before the 2023-24 school year.
The next competition on the schedule for Menin, Pace and the Roadrunners is the Texas Invitational, Thursday, April 24 - Friday, April 25 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
