 UTSA women's basketball head coach Karen Aston announced the promotion of Chantel Govan to the Director of Operations position for the 2023-24 season after she served as the graduate assistant during the 2022-23 year.

She had a multitude of duties as the Roadrunners' graduate assistant, including overseeing the student managers, assisting in practice and skills workouts, aiding the previous operations person with travel itineraries, and many other tasks. 

The Converse, Texas, native first began her UTSA journey as a student-athlete during the 2021-22 season. After spending two seasons at Cal Poly, she decided to come home for her final year of eligibility, playing in 25 games while averaging 23 minutes per game. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in multidisciplinary studies from UTSA in spring 2022.

At Cal Poly, Govan averaged 17.5 minutes per game, earning 16 starts in 44 games played across two seasons. In her junior season, she had a trio of at least three-steal performances, including a career-high four-steals against UC Santa Barbara. She also had an impressive career-best six assists against Long Beach State.

She started her collegiate career in the Lone Star state, spending two seasons at South Plains College and earning her Associate of Arts degree in the spring of 2019.
